Are dark post-punk, darkwave, deathrock, and ethereal wave separate from goth music or do they all fall under the umbrella of goth music?
I’ve seen posts/comments that divide them for example, “goth and darkwave” “goth and deathrock”, I thought they were all together considered goth music?
It just gets frustrating when you’ve listened to a lot of the genres, find a song you think is goth and someone says “no that’s post punk” “no that’s darkwave” are those.. not all goth?

ethereal small band recs?
have been into industrial for a while and dabbled in some goth, but im wanting to delve more into goth a bit. im not sure if they're considered "goth" goth, but i've been really into cocteau twins and concrete blonde recently. really like more synth-y, eerie, 80s music if that helps lol
